Abdullah Al-Saidi, CEO, Nafath Renewable Energy and Managing Director, Innotech

As CEO of Nafath Renewable Energy, Abdullah Al-Saidi works on the design and installation of solar systems, manages the finances of the company and lectures at Nafath renewable energy courses. As General Manager of Innotech, he is in charge of business development and for three years headed the manufacturing department. Mr. Al-Saidi has an engineering degree in electgrical and computer engineering from Sultan Qaboos University.

Allan Baker, Managing Director, Global Head Power Advisory & Project Finance

Allan has worked at Société Générale for eight years and has been involved in the power sector for more than 30 years, initially as an engineer and then in finance. During his career he has advised on and/or financed power projects in Europe, MENA, the US and Asia, and in sectors ranging from green-field renewable energy to the acquisition of large international power portfolios. Recently, Allan has executed transactions in offshore wind as advisor or MLA including Gunfleet Sands, Westernmost Rough and Dudgeon in the UK, and is currently advising on a number of debt and M&A deals in the clean energy sector. This includes a number of solar power transactions in Europe and the Shams concentrated solar project in UAE.

Allan has a BSc (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering, an MBA, is a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and a Chartered Engineer.

 

 

 

Taher Diab, Senior Director - Strategy & Planning, Dubai Supreme Council of Energy
Secretary General - Emirates Energy Award

Mr. Diab is Senior Director of Strategy & Planning at Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and Secretary General of Emirates Energy Award.

He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering from the University of New Orleans (1989), graduate of Hazardous Waste Institute at University of Louisville (1992) and an IRCA Quality Lead Assessor certification.

His career expands over 26 years of diversified experience in Business Planning, Strategy Development, Corporate Governance, Sustainability and HSE & Quality management Systems. He worked with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, ADNOC Group (UAE) and Qatar Petrochemical Company before joining the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy in April 2011.

His is actively involved in strategic development of diversified energy sources, demand & supply management in Dubai and devising work plans for achieving Dubai Integrate Energy Strategy 2030.

 

   

 

Manfred Fussi, Sales & Marketing Director, Almaden

Manfred Fussi M.Sc. is a Sales and Marketing Director at Almaden, the world’s largest producer of anti-reflective coated (ARC) solar glass and ultrathin physically tempered glass, as well as ultrathin frameless glass glass PV modules manufactured in Dubai. Originally from Austria, Manfred has 15 years of experience within the energy, water and medical sectors on four continents. He is a strong advocate of solar energy and has worked on numerous projects across Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

 

 

 

David Heimhofer, Chairman, Terra Sola Group

With almost 30 years’ experience, David Heimhofer is an expert in alternative investments and has in-depth knowledge of structured products, hedge fund management and private equity investments. With wide-ranging experience in the renewable energy sector, particularly in the solar energy industry, David has advised institutional investors on numerous direct investments and asset restructuring transactions in different industries in the Middle East and North Africa region.

 

 

 

Amin Lakhani, General Manager, Apex Power Concepts & DUSOL Industries

As General Manager of DUSOL Industries, Amin Lakhani is responsible for managing solar PV projects on a complete EPC basis. He also assesses and deploys strategic growth initiatives that cater to overarching objectives of the company, develop partnerships with companies, direct asset development and is involved in engineering aspects of PV systems that require careful engineering solution development.

Mr. Lakhani has an MSc with Distinction in Renewable Energy Engineering, in which he focused on solar energy systems and energy storage.

He also has an MBA from Baylor University in the United States, focusing on entrepreneurship and finance and a BE from Pune University in India, majoring in instrumentation and control engineering.


 

 

Fadi Marji, Director for Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency, Izzat Marji Group

Fadi Marji is a Jordanian expert in renewable energy and energy efficiency. He holds a Master’s degree in Renewable Energy “MBA Renewables” from Beuth University of Applied Sciences in Berlin Germany, that is in addition to his Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Jordan since 1993.

Fadi has more than 20 years of technical and management experience in Izzat Marji Group, which is considered as a leading provider of Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency solutions in Jordan and the Middle East. Fadi is currently the Deputy Managing Director for Operations & Development, the Director of Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency Department in Izzat Marji Group, and also the General Manager of IMG solar company registered in Dubai.

Fadi is certified from the US Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) as Renewable Energy Professional (REP®), Certified Energy Manager (CEM®) and Certified Energy Auditor (CEA®), as well as Certified Measurement & Verification Professional (CMVP®) issued by AEE and EVO (Efficiency Valuation Organization). Fadi is also certified as Official Trainer for REP®, CEA®, and CMVP® programs.

 

 

Anand Krishna Rohatgi, Sr. Vice President, Synergy Consulting Inc.

Experience of over 12 years, specializing in Infrastructure Sector ranging from Project and Structured Financing, Corporate Financing, Private Placement of Capital, Management Consulting, and Mergers and Acquisitions. Have worked on over 57 projects totalling to US$ 44 Billion with a focus on Middle-East Asia, South East Asia and India and on varied infrastructure projects including power, water, wastewater, district heating/cooling, railways, etc.

Gus Schellekens, Partner, EY Clean Energy and Sustainability Services

Building on a 25 year management consulting career that has been focused on developing and delivering large
programmes of work with private and public sector organizations globally, Gus has a particular interest in
supporting the development of sustainability, green growth and renewable energy initiatives by government and
private sector organisations.

His key areas of expertise include the sustainability agenda for people, cities and infrastructure; the development
of government policy to support the development of renewable energy projects; and the set up and delivery of
associated public and private sector business transformation programs.

 

 

 

Graeme Sims, Executive Director, Regulatory Services Bureau for Electricity and Water

Graeme is the Executive Director of Dubai’s Electricity and Water Regulator, the RSB. An economist by background, he has over twenty years’ experience of the electricity and water industries gained in the UK and UAE. Graeme was Deputy Director General at the UK’s Office of Electricity Regulation where he was responsible for the electricity industry in Scotland. From there he moved to Abu Dhabi to establish the emirate’s water and electricity regulatory body, acting as its first Director General. On his return to the UK he joined United Utilities, a FTSE100 utility company, serving as its Regulation Director and sitting on the board of United Utilities’ water business. Graeme is a graduate of Oxford University and began his career with the Boston Consulting Group.

 

  Paul van Son, Chairman, innogy SE resp. RWE AG

Paul van Son joined RWE in January 2015 and as of September 2016 RWE’s renewables, grid and
retail arm, innogy, as its Country Chairman for MENA and Turkey from its basis in Dubai, UAE.

Mr. van Son is the founder and honorary President of the European Federation of Energy Traders
(www.efet.org). He is Chairman of the Energy4All Foundation (www.energy4all.org ), a non-profit
organization promoting decentralized energy systems in Africa. He is among others member of the
Board of DEWA and innogy’s Joint Venture in Dubai. He graduated as an electrical engineer at the
Technical University Delft and on corporate governance at Nyenrode University, Netherlands.

 

 

Karel De Winter, General Manager, Alsa Solar Systems Limited

Karel De Winter is General Manager of Alsa Solar Systems and has acquired more than eight years hands-on field experience in “making solar happen” in the UAE. He graduated in Brussels, Belgium, with a Bachelor’s degree in Commercial & Financial Sciences, and with a Master’s Degree in Marketing from the renowned Vlerick School for Management. He also carries a Master’s Degree in International Politics from the University of Antwerp.After a long international career with Philips Consumer Electronics with positions in Purchasing, Project Management, Business Development & Operations management, he came to the Middle East in 2007. Able to speak five languages, Mr. De Winter has worked on five continents and takes a keen interest in connecting people. He has built extensive expertise in what it takes to initiate and run business startups, create performing teams, and managinig the tricky but lucrative activity of outsourcing.With three regional solar startups under his belt, Mr. De Winter is considered a solar pioneer with a passion for renewable energy. Alsa Solar has been instrumental in contributing to the emerging solar industry through various Off-grid as well as the 1st pilots of On-grid projects in the UAE and has executed projects in Egypt, Kenya and Afghanistan.
